Panko Crusted Goat Cheese Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz log fresh goat cheese (chevre)

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½  tsp sea salt

  • ¼  tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • 3 Tbsp  grated parmigiano cheese

  • 2 cups Panko bread crumbs

 

Instructions

  • Freeze log of goat cheese for 10 minutes

  • Prep breading station: one bowl for flour seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder; one bowl for egg with parmigiano cheese, one bowl for panko

  • Cut goat cheese into 12 slices

  • Dip each slice into flour mix, then egg mix, then Panko

  • Place coated goat’s cheese on a tray and return to the freezer.  If making them right away, freeze for 15 minutes then continue.  If making ahead of time, freeze until firm and transfer to a ziplock baggie.

  • To finish, heat the oven to 400

  • Add 3-6 Tbsp olive oil to cookie sheet and put in oven to heat up (about 10 minutes)

  • Remove the hot sheet and place frozen Goat Cheese bites directly onto the sheet.

  • Return to the oven for 10 minutes, turn over the bites and return to the oven for 5 minutes.

  • Served with honey.
